Default Help with a build

Hello. I'm new to this forum and rather new to the game too. I bought Nightfall some time ago and played with a Warrior/Ranger. I usually pick melee classes and having a pet was pretty cool. Now I got Prophecies and wanted to try something new. I'll forget about melee and focus on ranged and casting. A Necromancer looks really good, but I don't know where to start. Can you give me some tips on how to build it, taking into account that I only have Prophecies and Nightfall?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the game (and this forum ofc). Don't bother too much about skills and builds, take what seems fun, interesting and useful to you. Come back here when you've reached lion's arch if you still have questions. I also recommend on visiting http://PvXwiki.com before you comeback here asking for help. You don't have to have the same exact builds as the ones posted there, you can replace skills that do about the same job as the ones suggested. If you get into troubles later on in the game after doing the above then comeback here, explain what's the problem, post your current build at that point in time (very crucial) and I bet you will get more help than you need. Have fun.

Just play around. Look at skills through a Priest of Balthazar in your guild hall, and pick what attribute you prefer. Then make your necromancer or whatever profession you'd like, and start playing! At first the build doesn't really matter. When you get to more advanced places you will have the option to capture elite skills, and then just find one that you like and use it. get a bunch of skills from the same attribute or from another attribute you're investing in, and make sure the skills work together. Tada! You have a build.

Nice, nice. I will do that. I guess I'll pick Monk as my secondary to have some healing backup... and play for fun.

Thanks for the advice, guys.
